Happy first day of Spring, you guys!!! GOODBYE WINTER GOODBYE. I’m so ready for nice weather….I swear I will lose it if we have a spring snowstorm. We haven’t even had a bad winter at all but I just am not into winter at all and I love the sunshine and comfortable temperatures.
ANYWAYS…this spring will be a big reading season for me as it will be the last season I have before I will suddenly have a baby attached to me and less time to read. The countdown to July is on and, in addition to doing lots of other things, I really am trying to enjoy these last uninterrupted reading moments I’m so lucky to have right now.
One of the BIG reading goals I have for this Spring is to READ BOOKS THAT PHYSICALLY TAKE UP SPACE ON MY DAMN SHELF. That means, few library trips and bookstore shopping sprees! Also means saving the books on my kindle for when I am up feeding a baby and only have one hand to use to read. We have very little storage space in our apartment for the baby and I need to get rid of books off my shelves so we can use one of them to be able to put little cube bins of baby stuff.
So, let’s talk about 10 books from my shelves that I definitely plan to read this Spring!
1. And We’re Off by Dana Schwartz: Anytime a book involves travel I’m in! This looks like the PERFECT read for this Spring!
2. Once and For All by Sarah Dessen: New Dessen?? DEFINITELY on my priority list no matter what season but LOOK HOW SPRINGY THAT COVER IS. Can’t wait to devour a new romance from Sarah!!
3. Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh: A MULAN RETELLING. Yep.
4. Who’s That Girl by Blair Thornburgh: This book is actually a SUMMER release (comes out ON my due date) but it’s definitely a summer release I want to read before I have the baby. This book is giving me major Audrey, Wait! (by Robin Benway) vibes which makes me so happy because I love books that have a music angle of some sort and I’ve been dying for a book in the vein of Audrey, Wait!. Plus Blair is a fellow Philly lady so I’m even more excited about it!
5. Given To The Sea by Mindy McGinnis: I loooove Mindy McGinnis’s books so it’s a no brainer a new book from her would be on my list. She’s written so many different types of books and I’m soooo excited that she’s giving us a fantasy book!
6. The Girl From Everywhere by Heidi Heilig: I’ve been meaning to read this one every since it came out but then I decided, later in 2016, that I would just wait until book 2 came out and now it’s out so I can’t wait to devour these! Time travel wooooo!! (It’s only $1.99 as of today!)
7. Nowhere But Home by Liza Palmer: This one has been highly recommended for years by people I trust and it looks so cute! I love books where the MCs have to go back to their small home towns for whatever reason and are confronted with an old flame or crush.
8. Uprooted by Naomi Novik: One of the things I wanted to do before I had the baby is read some of my most anticipated fantasy releases that I STILL hadn’t gotten around to yet because I know myself and I will lean on contemporary when my brain is all strung out from no sleep and all the fantasy on my shelves will be ignored until I can better concentrate.
9. The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi: Another fantasy I want to get to!
10. Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson: This one came out when I was in my reading slump and I REALLY want to read it so I’m making it a priority!
There are a few other books that I have on my kindle or plan to buy but aren’t currently ON my shelves that are coming out this Spring that I want to for sure read this Spring. So I will mention those briefly:
1. Fireworks by Katie Cotugno: LOVE ALL KATIE’S BOOK. THEY ARE LITERALLY ALL SO GOOD AND COMPLICATED AND JUST THE BEST ! Reading it sooooon!
2. The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertelli: You all KNOWWWWW how obsessed I am with her debut (or you should know that) and I have this on my kindle ready to go probably this week or next!!
3. Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han: I looooove these books and was delighted when Jenny announced there would be another one. I love Lara Jean and her sisters SO MUCH. I NEED THIS BOOK NOW AND WAITING TIL MAY IS HARD.
4. Ramona Blue by Julie Murphy: Love Julie’s books and very excited for a new one!
5. When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon: This looks allllllll sorts of adorable!
6. In A Perfect World by Trish Doller: Trish is one of my favorite contemporary authors and I’m excited for a new book from her! Plus it’s set in Egypt??

Oh man Nowhere But Home is one of my all-time favorites!! I hope you love it like the rest of us pushers 😉 When Dimple Met Rishi was UNREAL SO GOOD. I loveddddd it. Hope you get to all of these!! I have a TBR planned for April/May where I pretty much only read books on my shelves too.

It’s been on my TBR forever and I have such high hopes so I’m hoping I love it too!!
I’m SO bad at reading from my shelves unless they are ARCs so I’m trying to make an effort to read books I’ve bought as well as the arcs. It’s amazing how suddenly when I need room I’m like YEP better read some of these to get em out of here (because I pretty much only keep books that become ALL TIME FAVES or that I think I might want to reread someday).

Yessss I have already loved a bunch of books on this list and I know you will too! I actually have jury duty next week so I’ve been saving my ARC of WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI for that, since I know I’ll need some fun joy, and I definitely plan to read WHO’S THAT GIRL, IN A PERFECT WORLD, and FLAME IN THE MIST once I can get my hands on them! Also suuuuper excited for my preorder of I BELIEVE IN A THING CALLED LOVED by Maurene Goo to arrive, and I just got an ARC of LITTLE & LION by Brandy Colbert, which is basically my most anticipated book of ever. Definitely reading those soon, along with Julie Buxbaum’s newest (I loooved TELL ME THREE THINGS), THE ART OF STARVING by Sam J. Miller, ECHO AFTER ECHO by Amy Rose Capetta, and finally gonna finish Marie Lu’s most recent series and catch up on Victoria Aveyard’s, hopefully!

I’ve been having a little freakout about all the things I won’t be able to do for a while (aka sit on my couch and read uninterrupted for hours) and it’s like I KNOW the tradeoff will be in a sweet little package but oh man my brain is spiraling thinking about ALL THE THINGS that will change and idk why it’s focusing on all the things that WON’T be happening when I have so much to look forward to.

My number one to read for Spring is The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. Not only does it appeal to me but it’s getting awesome reviews! Waiting on my library to order it though. I’m first on the list 🙂

GOOD LIFE CHOICE!!! I read THUG back in October and I STILL cannot stop thinking about it. SO important and relevant and discussable but not just that…Starr is such a wonderful MC and her family is now one of my ALL TIME FAVE families I’ve ever read. I hope you love it!!

OMG The Girl From Everywhere and Allegedly are SO good! So, so good! Two of my favorite recent reads. New Dessen also looks amazing, I’m going to have to remember to pick that up. For new releases, I definitely want to get to The Hate U Give and The Ship Beyond Time. Other than that, I plan to go back and read a lot of books I accumulated over the holidays and through my Book of the Month subscription that I haven’t gotten to yet. It didn’t release this spring, but I just read and loved American Street by Ibi Zoboi and cannot recommend it enough!

I’m the complete opposite compared to you as I LOVE Winter, luckily here is South Africa were now officially Autumn, so YAY, haha. Hopefully it rains as as we really need it! Flame in the Mist is complete automatic buy for me, and I’m so excited for it’s release, eep! I’ve never read a Mindy McGinnis books, but OMG that book looks so interesting! I mean Kingdoms, and her flesh can prevent waves?! I WANT ASAP. I pretty much am so excited to read all the books on your list, lovely post 🙂

Haha I do know so many people who do love winter…my brain can never compute unless they live where it doesn’t snow and they have temperatures above 65 degrees. what type of temperatures do you have in the winter? Hope you do get rain!!
Oh man..I hope you check out Mindy’s books! They are all so different and wonderful! I’ve not been disappointed with her books yet and think she’s so underrated.

Unfortunately we don’t get snow, except for high up in the mountains, so we can go camp there/drive there to experience it if we want to. However our winter temperatures don’t get too cold, especially compared to other countries, but it generally goes to 10˚C/50˚F which is cold for me anyway, haha. I’ll definitely check out her books soon! 🙂

Enjoy your reading time. The last few loathsome of pregnancy I could not concentrate to read and was so tired. I listened to a lot of audiobooks instead. Just thought I’d mention it in case you find it hard as well. I borrowed tons from my library to listen to in the car on my way to and from work.

So many excellent books on that TBR!! I’m desperate to get my hands on The Flame in the Mist, the Girl from Everywhere, The Star Touched Queen, and Given to the Sea.
Uprooted is really good! However I kept comparing it to one of my all time favourite Beauty and the Beast retellings (Heart’s Blood by Juliet Mariller) and it felt like a poor version of that far superior book. I still liked it a lot but not as much as a lot of other people.
I hope you enjoy all of these!
