Top Ten Tuesday, as always, is hosted at my other blog — The Broke & the Bookish
This week’s topic: Top Ten Books On My Spring TBR
Spring! I am welcoming Spring this week and will bribe her (I guess it could be a him?) with all sorts of brownies if she breaks all ties with Winter! I’m excited for warm weather and flowers and Spring is definitely the time I start reading some summer-y books!
I failed and read only 3 out of the 10 I said I would in my Winter TBR. FAIL WHALE. But I can do better this time!
1. My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick: Everyone says this is a ME book and I don’t know WHY I haven’t read it yet but I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about it. My Secret Santa got it for me this year so I HAVE to get to it!
2. Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly: I bought this book when it first came out, went to signing and then never read it. I’ve heard it’s a great historical fiction novel and I’m fascinated by the story!
3. The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion: The lovely Jen gift this to me and she’s raved about it! Plus I really want to get back to more of my adult fiction roots! (Oh hey right now it’s only $1.99 for your Kindle!)
4. Sekret by Lindsey Smith: I picked this up at ALA and am super excited for it! COLD WAR ESPIONAGE!
5. Far From You by Tess Sharpe: This one was on my most anticipated debut novels for 2014 so OBVIOUSLY this is high priority! I’m interested because it sounds very different!
6. Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson: If you know me, Morgan Matson is one of my FAVE contemporary YA authors. I’ve been holding off reading this until a little closer so I plan to start SOON!
7. Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Page: Wizard of Oz retelling! OH YEAH. And Dorothy is a bit cray craaaay!
8. Lies We Tell Ourselves by Robin Talley: YAY historical fiction! Also, civil rights era which I’ve been wanting in YA!
9. Let’s Get Lost by Adi Alsaid: This was another on my most anticipated debut novels for 2014 list! Road trip but the vague summary makes me veeeerryyy intrigued!
10. The Vanishing Season by Jodi Lynn Anderson: I LOVED Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson (awesome Peter Pan retelling) and I have been dying for this one!! SERIAL KILLER on the loose!
So tell me… What books are on your high priority list for Spring 2014? Have you read any of these ones? Which one do you think I should make priority numero uno??
Christine @ BookishlyB says
I read the Rosie Project awhile ago and didn’t really love the ending. That being said, for those that are YA fans I think it would probably be a sort of good “bridge” book over to YA.
Kate @ whYAnot says
Not book related but I love your skirt! Sekret is high on my wish list. I love the sound of it and hope you enjoy it – and the rest of these books – when you get around to reading them 🙂
Holly says
Definitely interested in you reading Revolution! I really liked it!
I also really need to read My Life Next Door! heard so many great things.
Emily @ Oh Magic Hour says
Oh my GOSH how did I forget Sekret!!! I really want to read that one! I am also super hyped for Dorothy Must Die and you made me super intrigued about The Rosie Project. Great list!
Danielle @ Love at First Page says
I’m sure this is like beating a dead horse to you now, but you must read My Life Next Door asap! So. Much. Swoon.
Great list! Since You’ve Been Gone and Sekret made mine as well. 🙂
Christina (A Reader of Fictions) says
Is it bad that every time you post these I end up drooling more over your dresses/skirts than the books. I mean, I totally approve of your reading My Life Next Door and The Rosie Project, but YOU HAVE THE PRETTIEST CLOTHING. You’re like a Bennet sister. :-p
Ashley @ Ok, Let's Read says
I’m excited and also nervous for Dorothy Must Die. I have high hopes and I really, really hope it can meet them because of how excited I am to read it. Any sort of retelling like that automatically has super high standards with me and I think The Lunar Chronicles might be to blame for that.
Here’s My Top Ten Tuesday!
Nuzaifa @ Say It with Books says
Let’s Get Lost by Adi Alsaid: YESSSS. I love road trip-y books and boy that cover’s so frigging pretty! It’s on my wish list but I think I’ll wait for the reviews before buying this one.
The Vanishing Season is a new one for me maybe because I haven’t read Tiger Lily yet? I know I know. REALLY need to get my hands on that one.
Also like Christina said, your dresses are so pretty!! Your Retail Therapy feature is back right?
Rachel Patrick says
This is the best because, yay, I’m not the only one who hasn’t read MY LIFE NEXT DOOR! And I’m totally jealous of LET’S GET LOST. I am in love with that cover.
Rachel @ Beauty and the Bookshelf
Chrissi Reads says
A lot of these books are on my radar. I have recently finished My Life Next Door. I enjoyed it. It’s a great Spring/Summer read. I also enjoyed The Rosie Project. I hope you enjoy these books, whenever you get around to reading them.
Camille @ Girl meets Books says
Lots of new-to-me titles. Thanks for always sharing such amazing lists Jamie! 🙂 I think I’ll be checking out Morgan Matson.
Here are my Top Ten Tuesday picks 🙂
Freya says
Revolution is AMAZING. It lay on my sister’s floor for years, and then I picked it up one day and OHMYGOD could not stop reading. I haven’t read any of the others, but they look awesome too 😀
Fida says
All the historicals and a roadtrip?! I’m putting it all on my TBR list.
Deb Nance at Readerbuzz says
Lots of great ideas for spring! Thank you!

April Books & Wine says
I have a book in common with you for this TTT – Since You’ve Been Gone! I am pumped up for it and likely to read it before the month ends. Yayyyyy!
As for your other books, I really loved Revolution and My Life Next Door.
Dorothy Must Die was okay, I mean there’s a lot of action and the concept is killer, but hmmm, I wasn’t like joining the fan club after reading, ya know.
Also, Sekret was super awesome!
Hope you get to read more than 3 of these! <3
Heather says
This is such a great idea. I never thought of breaking up my the list into seasons! There’s a couple on you list I’m dying to read, specifically Dorothy Must Die!
Sandra @ Sandra's World of Books says
Your clothing is so nice and I love the graphics that you make every time! I haven’t read any of the books you mentioned, but I hope you like them all 🙂
Lakin says
I need to read these books too! Hope you get to read them all!

Sash from Sash & Em says
Revolution! 🙂 So good!
Amanda @ Book Badger says
That’s some good books there Jamie! It’s nice to see some older releases on here too like My Left Next Door, I’ve been considering that book and The Rose Project which I’ve also been considering for ages! Dorothy Must Die is one I really want to hear more about; I’m not big on all things Oz, so I’m unsure at the moment. Far From You sounds like a great read, so I’ll have to hope you enjoy it!
Spring TBR

I love love love Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly. I hope you do too! I’ll have to watch this space (or your goodreads) to follow your thoughts 🙂

Christina (BookTasty) says
I thought Revolution was completely engrossing! I was hooked and the whole time I was in Paris a few months later I kept imagining the story! 🙂
Bonnie @ A Backwards Story says
I’m overdue for MY LIFE NEXT DOOR, too. Ahh, did you see that Jennifer Donnelly’s new series is about MERMAIDS? Of course I covet it! It was one of the ALA titles I was shocked and excited to discover!! Oh, I have heard such amazing things about THE ROSIE PROJECT! I’m going to start reading DOROTHY MUST DIE today. Ahhh! I have LET’S GET LOST and THE VANISHING SEASON to read, too, but will probably read them closer to summer!
Did I tell you about the road trip novel I just read that was such a “you” book? #16ThingsIThoughtWereTrue by Janet Gurtler!
Becky LeJeune says
I am so with you – winter needs to go away! I have a few of these in my own list – DOROTHY MUST DIE and SEKRET – I also need to read both THE ROSIE PROJECT and REVOLUTION. I have them both in TBR and haven’t gotten to them.
Liza @ Reading with ABC says
I have My Life Next Door and I’ve been meaning to read it since forever! I want to read Sekret too, sounds so interesting. Great list 🙂
Vickie Ramage says
Revolution is such a good book, I’d love to find more like that. It’s a bit of a long read but I enjoyed every minute of it!

Sofia says
There were quite many on your list that I hadn’t heard about, but that’s only a good thing: more to add to my TBR list. 🙂 Thanks for sharing and happy reading!
Holly U says
This is a neat idea, listing these by seasons. 🙂 A few of these are on my list, like My Life Next Door (which is one that I REALLY, REALLY want to read!) and Dorothy Must Die. Wizard of Oz retelling? I’m in.
Cassi says
Great list! I am also planning on reading Sekret and I totally want to read Dorothy Must Die and The Vanishing Season. I’ve been thinking about reading The Rosie Project, I’ll look forward to your review.
Alexia @ Adventures in Reading says
I’m sure you’ve heard this before, but My Life Next Door is a MUST read Jamie. I just read it recently and it was amazing. I immediately put it on my list of favorite books I’ve read in 2014. Sekret was a disappointment for me. I labelled it a DNF. I just could not stand it. So bummed about that. Far From You looks fantastic and I definitely want to read that one soon. I’m scheduled to read The Vanishing Season in May, so i’m excited for that one.
Happy reading lady!
Rissi says
Ooo! Now I’m curious about ‘Tiger Lily.’ Did you or are you going to read the other new Peter Pan re-telling this summer? Cannot remember the name but it sounds good. 🙂
Rachelia (Bookish Comforts) says
I need to try all of your overdue picks as well! Especiallly Revolution, it seems like my kind of book! Sekret & Far From You are both on my list too 🙂 I recently heard of Lies We Tell Ourselves and it sounds SO good!

Rebecca @ The Library Canary says
I’m reading Sekret soon! I’ve heard good things so far so *crosses fingers* I also saw on Broke and Bookish that you’re planning on reading TFIOS soon. Me too! We should read together for moral support. Lol
Sarah @ StoryboundGirl says
I can’t believe you haven’t read My Life Next Door Yet. GET ON THAT! 🙂
Jessica @ Fly to Fiction says
Revolution! Ahhh! I loved it when I read it a few years ago, so I really hope you’ll enjoy it. Can’t wait to see what you think.
I also really enjoyed Sekret. A bunch of the other books are on my TBR list for some time too. Hope you get to all of these! (:
Tammy @ Books, Bones & Buffy says
You have some awesome books on your list! I also want to read DOROTHY MUST DIE and SEKRET, although I forgot all about them when I was putting my list together, LOL! Too many books! Hope you enjoy them all!
tabithasbookblog says
My Life Next Door does seem like a “you” book! I think you’ll really enjoy it. And then Dorothy Must Die and Since You’ve Been Gone look incredible!! Hope you get around to reading all of the books on your list!
Irish says
Since You’ve Been Gone and My Life Next Door are such cute reads I think that you will enjoy them both.
My TTT is here.
Kayla @ The Thousand Lives says
Morgan Matson and Let’s Get Lost!!! I’ll admit it – I’m pretty jealous right now! Read those first so we can see what you think 😉
I’m reading Far From You within a week or so; I’ve heard some mixed reviews, so I wonder where I’ll fall? Hopefully we both enjoy it!
Rachel says
I’m just going to comment on the books I’ve read because I obviously want to read like all of the same books as you. First off, yay for reading My Life Next Door! I read that one when I first started blogging and while I can’t really remember much about it, I do think you’ll like it! Far From You is super good, but just a warning, it is mega intense and depressing. I had to read it in chunks because it kept bringing my mood down so much. I can’t wait to hear what you think of it, though!
Kaley @ Books Etc says
I LOVED The Rosie Project! I did a similar list. I picked books that I have to read over the next month or so instead of focusing on spring picks – though some are on there, like Ann Brashares’ new one. And I actually ended up picking 15…though I’ve already finished one, yay! (The Fault in Our Stars…read it!) Happy Spring!
DreamyMarie says
This was such a cute blog! Love all the photography and cute layout! 🙂 And of course, all the BOOKS! Always, the books!
Alexa S. says
I really enjoyed My Life Next Door! The romance is super sweet, and it’s definitely a good choice for a spring read. I also really loved Sekret (it was seriously compelling!), Revolution (historical fiction written in a unique way) and Far From You (I could not put it down!). Happy reading! Hopefully, Spring is nice to us and shoves Winter aside 😉
Anne S says
Let’s Get Lost and Since You’ve Been Gone look interesting!
johannah says
Such a great list! Dorothy must die sounds good! I can’t wait to read unhinged. Or the face on the milk carton.
Jamie says
I used to love the face on the milk carton! Oh my gosh!
