Happy Sunday! Hope you all had a good week! I keep starting these posts and then the weekend gets away from me. Not a bad thing, I suppose! We’ve been busy busy over here — Riley just started crawling a couple of weeks ago and as of today she’s pulling herself to standing. I’m pretty sure I don’t need to work out anymore, right? Because I FEEL even more tired than usual chasing after her.
In my Blogging Essentials post I told y’all I am forever obsessed with the Genesis Framework which keeps my blog easy to maintain and customize behind the scene and that I was looking to get a new blog theme that also runs on it because I’ve had the current one since 2012 and I actually think they retired it. WELL, I did it and I’m so excited to get my new theme up and running and design my new header and share it with you all!!
Anyways, let me know in the comments what you’ve been up to this weekend!!

- This post was circulating on Facebook and gave me way too many feelings at this stage of my life.
- I’ve been looking for a new oatmeal outside of my typical couple on rotation for breakfast and this looks DELISH.
- SO on Friday (if you follow my IG stories — @perpetualpageturner — you might have seen) I went into Target to grab crushed tomatoes that we had forgotten at Trader Joe’s earlier in the week and I walked out almost $100 more broke (this will be the title of my memoir, okay?). I AM OBSESSED WITH THE UNIVERSAL THREAD brand from Target that (I think) just was launched semi-recently. The Knox Rose stuff (if you remember all my Target hauls in the Fall) was my most recent Target obsession but I think I’m into this one more right now. I didn’t check out their jeans which seem to be the big seller but I plan to! Here’s what I did get though:
- Oh hey did you see Amber Tamblyn wrote a novel all about rape culture??
- If you were obsessed with the tv series Felicity like I was, you ought to check out this book!
- I literally want to read every single book on this list.
- I don’t know in what life I actually NEED (define neeeeed though) a music box but this Harry Potter one is something I am pretty sure I DO need. While we are talking about things I probably don’t need and probably aren’t practical, HOW COOL IS THIS HOWL’S MOVING CASTLE CALENDAR???
- This article on how early motherhood is so hard on friendships had me teary because I FEEL THIS SO MUCH RIGHT NOW. I feel like a not as stellar friend as I was pre-baby. I’ve put in less effort and checked in less often than I used to. And like most of my closest friends are in this stage right now, which has been also amazing because they Get It, but also really hard because I feel some drifting that has nothing to do with our friendship and more to do with our life stage.
- Definitely the most thought-provoking article I read this week: is it self care or self sabotage? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this!

I bought those same black slide sandals from Target a few weeks ago and I love them! I just moved to a new apartment this month so I have been shelling out sooo much money at Target recently for new apt stuff. It’s ridiculous but I LOVE IT so *shrug emoji*
Jamie says
Aren’t they so cute?? I just can’t wait until it gets nice enough to wear them!! Oh man…I can only IMAGINE how much awesome stuff there is for decorating a new place! Our lease is up this Spring and we are definitely outgrowing our current apartment sooo that’s going to be ME soon haha.
Tammy @ Books, Bones & Buffy says
Me too, Jamie! I am OBSESSED with Universal Thread. I went to Target yesterday for dog food and came home with three new spring tops, lol😁
Jamie says
bahahha glad I’m not the only one!! Did you try their jeans? Someone on my IG stories messaged me and said they were amazing!
Tammy @ Books, Bones & Buffy says
Yes! I have two pairs of their jeans. I love them, they are stretchy and have cute colors:-)

Thanks so much for the link to the Harry Potter music box! For Christmas I tried to buy my sister an illustrated copy of The Prisoner of Azkaban but ended up being sent the wrong product by the vendor. I got a refund but still owe my sister a replacement gift and think I may end up buying the music box as the perfect alternative! (Although I admit I may be tempted to keep it for myself, haha.)
Jamie says
omg that would be an AMAZING gift — get one for her and one for you 😛

Hey Jamie – LOVE the new site redesign! It looks fantastic and so well organized.
Jamie says
Ahhh thank you so much!! I’ve been working really hard on it and still have a lot more to do but that makes me so happy to hear!!

Don’t worry about being different as a friend. I do not have any children, but I know not to expect the same kind of friendship from friends after they have a baby. Your priorities have changed, and your friends understand. I sometimes wish I had that old friendship before babies, but I love spoiling my friends’ children and watching them grow.

Oh that self-care article is very confronting. I mean *thinks of chocolate and other snacks* There is the line of using it sometimes as self-care and all the time. My biggest self-care is reading and I do always feel better afterwards. Sometimes it is going to bed early. Or blogging. But I do skip doing tasks in the morning because I feel like crap thinking it will make me feel better but instead I feel guilty.

Ha, that Howl’s Moving Castle calendar is adorable! It’s one of my all time favorite movies, aside from Hot Fuzz. I was just in Target the other day and I am sooo glad we are getting past the in-between season fashion limbo period because I so desperately want to wear those sandals 😉 Congrats on Riley’s major milestone!
