Top Ten Tuesday, as always, is hosted at my other blog — The Broke & the Bookish
This week’s topic: Top Ten Books On My Spring 2015 TBR list
1. Joyride by Anna Banks: “A popular guy and a shy girl with a secret become unlikely accomplices for midnight pranking, and are soon in over their heads—with the law and with each other” Sounds fun!!
2. Emmy & Oliver by Robin Benway: I LOVED Robin Benway’s Audrey, Wait! and Also Known As so I’ve been excited for this one to come out. “Emmy’s best friend, Oliver, reappears after being kidnapped by his father ten years ago. Emmy hopes to pick up their relationship right where it left off. Are they destined to be together? Or has fate irreparably driven them apart?“
3. Scarlet by A.C. Gaughen: Everyone has raved about this series and I just need to start it already! AND it’s a Robin Hood retelling!!
4. The Survival Kit by Donna Freitas: I’ve had this one on my TBR list for a while. I know it is going to be absolutely gut-wrenching!!
5. The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater: I KNOW I KNOW. How have I not read this one yet?!?
6. Hold Me Like A Breath by Tiffany Schmidt: It is the start of a series of crime family fairy tale retellings. This one is a retelling of Princess & the Pea and the main character’s family is one of 3 families who control the black market of organ transplants.
7. Made You Up by Francesca Zappia: ” Made You Up tells the story of Alex, a high school senior unable to tell the difference between real life and delusion” I LOOOVE unreliable narrators so I’m stoked about this one!
8. An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir: FANTASY! To continue my foray into this genre I’m currently smitten with. Plus it is set in a world that is Rome-esque.
9. Things We Know By Heart by Jessi Kirby: Jessi Kirby is one of the most underrated authors and I LOVED all 3 of her books (Moonglass / In Honor / Golden) and have been DYING for this one!
10. The Devil You Know by Trish Doller: I LOVE Trish Doller’s books (Something Like Normal / Where Stars Still Shine) so this is one of my most anticipated! Seems like it’s going to be different than her previous too books (more thriller-y) so I’m very excited to read it!
So tell me…are any of these books on your TBR for Spring? Did I convince you to add any? ALSO ALSO…tell me ONE book (or two) that I need to consider having on my TBR for Spring!
Alyssa @ Swept Away By Books says
The Dream Thieves! Yesssss.
I can’t wait to hear what you think about Ember and The Devil You Know and Things We Know By Heart! Desperate something fierce for those books. And i’m really really curious about Made You Up. It sounds very interesting and different. Also, that cover is spectacular.
Great list Jamie!
Alyssa from Swept Away By Books 🙂

Savannah says
Made You Up is absolutely my #1 book for this spring! I can’t wait to get it, and I see that you were lucky enough to get hold of an ARC. T_T
Zoey @ Uncreatively Zoey says
I would read The Dream Thieves every single day if I could. Over and over. I’m so in love. Made You Up sounds so interesting, and I agree with Alyssa about the cover! I can’t wait for that one to come out.
Add to your spring tbr pile? Well, I mean. Blue Lily, Lily Blue. Obviously. Because you’re going to need it immediately after The Dream Thieves.
Rachel Patrick says
AN EMBER IN THE ASHES and THINGS WE KNOW BY HEART are on my list, too! I’m excited to read both but am super intrigued by HEART’s premise. And ahh, SCARLET, that book is so darn good!

Your lists are always dangerous for my TBR! I really enjoyed Golden by Jessi Kirby. I’m looking forward to reading more of her books, as I thought her writing was beautiful!
Petra says
Oh, The Dream Thieves is so great. I want to read a lot of these too, especially Hold Me like a Breathe, Made You Up and An Ember in the Ashes. I hope you get to read some of these soon, and great list! 🙂

Rhoda K says
I’ve also got An Ember In The Ashes on my Spring TBR. I’m intrigued by Hold Me Like A Breath, I might have to add it to my wishlist!
Ellie says
I still haven’t read The Raven Boys yet and feel kind of bad about it since everyone’s telling me how good this series is. Maybe I’ll just wait a little longer and then marathon the whole series when the fourth one’s released.
I’m still not sure about An Ember in the Ashes. I hear only good things about it but the blurb didn’t get me excited.
Jennifer @ YA Book Nerd says
I really want to read Embers in the Ashes too!
I’m also excited for PS. I still Love you and The Boy Most Likely To
Jessica @ a GREAT read says
OOoh nice! Some of these are new to me and some I am just seeing a lot of today! Hope you enjoy them all this spring!

Dream Thieves! My fave of the series thus far. Also that cover for Made You Up is gorgeous. I hadn’t heard of it before but I need to check it out on cover appeal alone. Thanks for sharing! I’m a big fan of Maggie Steifvater, but crazily haven’t read any of the Raven Boys series yet. I’m currently listening to The Scorpio Races on audio right now, and it’s dang good so far. Great list!

The second picture is where it’s at! I am so excited for ‘Made for You’ – I was lucky to get a ecopy off of Edelweiss! I will probably end up reading that one WAY before the publish date. I’m also looking forward to ‘An Ember in the Ashes’, ‘Things We Know by Heart’ and ‘The Devil you Know’! 😀 Great list of books, Jamie!
Mallory @ The Leaning Tower of Tomes says
I’ve got Hold Me Like a Breath, too! I absolutely cannot wait to read it! My excitement has been going up and up and up lately — I think I’ll read it next. I also really want to read An Ember in the Ashes and need to get on the Scarlet bandwagon (retellings FTW!). Great list, Jamie! Danielle @ Love at First Page says
I’ll be reading the Scarlet series too! I think I’m binging it in May when the third book comes out. 😀 I really liked Joyride, Made You Up, and The Survival Kit, and of course THE DREAM THIEVES. <3 So happy to see that on your list. 🙂
Aimee Meester says
DREAM THIEVES. I just read that one myself, and oh, it’s so, so worth it. Just lovely. <3 I'm also excited about An Ember In the Ashes, too. It looks like just my kind of thing.
Hazel @ Stay Bookish says
As a huge fan of Audrey, Wait! I can say Emmy & Oliver was even better! I think you’ll love it, Jamie! I think I’ll also be reading The Dream Thieves this spring as I haven’t yet and really need to do so already!
Erin says
I loved Scarlet, but didn’t know it was a series! AH!
Ciara @ Lost at Midnight says
Ahhh! I actually want to read the majority of these books! The Devil You Know! Things We Know by Heart! Emmy & Oliver! Hold Me Like a Breath! EEP! You have a lot of amazing reading coming up.
The Dream Thieves is also FABULOUS. Happy reading!

Mel@thedailyprophecy says
The dream thieves is my favorite installment in the series so far 😀 I loved the story in this book. I am very pleased to see Scarlet on your list. I feel like it’s a bit underrated and it’s so good! Scarlet is such a kick-ass girl and the story takes all kind of interesting turns 🙂 I can’t wait for Hold me like a breath.
Rachelwrites007 says
I read EMMY & OLIVER and MADE YOU UP of your TBR list. I really enjoyed both. I found MADE YOU UP to be almost like an anime/manga in feel (a warning!) but I liked the look at schizophrenia. I’m not sure I would read it again 🙂 I really enjoyed EMMY & OLIVER. I have only read Benway’s AUDREY, WAIT! which I loved so many years ago and was sent E&O by Harper. I didn’t have an interest but decided to try it anyway. It is darker than her other books and I just loved the voice!
Good luck choosing! 🙂
Cynthia says
Great list. I have Things We Know by Heart on my top ten list as well. 🙂
Melissa @ Writer Grrl Reads says
Great list! I had never read a Jessi Kirby novel before, but I picked up Things We Know By Heart and I’m really liking it so far. It’s intense, but she’s an absolutely beautiful writer, and I know that this won’t be the last book of hers that I read.
Emma says
I have heard SO much about The Dream Thieves, another book that will be on my TBR list for a while :$ Made You Up has such a pretty cover too! I hope you enjoy all of these books, have a great day 🙂
Here’s my TTT if you would like to check it out 🙂 My TTT
Lola says
Hold Me Like A Breath is SO GOOD! I hope you enjoy it! 🙂
Sarah @ What Sarah Read says
You don’t know how happy it makes me to see Scarlet on your list this week…one of my all time favorite series! Hope you LOVE it too! I just finished An Ember in the Ashes last night and it was sooooo good! I also have Hold Me Like a Breath, The Devil You Know and Emmy & Oliver on my list too…great minds think alike! 😉
Nikoel says
Dream Thieves, Dream Thieves, Dream Thieves, Dream Thieves.
But really, you should read The Dream Thieves.
Amanda says
I have needed to read The Raven Boys for months! I hear that author is fantastic. About time to pull it off the night stand stack.
Frannie Pan @ In Clouds of Pages says
So many great book!!
I really want to read An ember in the ashes, Joyride, Scarlet and Things we know by heart!! 😀
Morgan @ Gone with the Words says
I haven’t read Robin Benway yet but I have Also Known As at home, and Emmy & Oliver sounds really good!! I loooved Scarlet even though the dialect took some getting used to. Such shippy feels 😀 And I LOVE The Dream Thieves!! Hope you do tooo. Really excited to read An Ember in the Ashes, I love the Rome-like setting also! Happy reading 🙂
Krystianna says
Great list! I have already heard so many marvelous things about Made You Up. Plus, that cover is absolutely gorgeous! An Ember in the Ashes is so hyped up and I can’t wait to read it when it’s released. I’ve been anticipating Joyride for a while because I adored the Syrena Legacy by Anna Banks and I can’t wait to read more by her! Happy reading. 😀
Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian
Katie @ Bookish Illuminations says
I can’t wait for An Ember in the Ashes and Things We Know by Heart. Both of those look good! I have an e-ARC of Hold Me Like a Breath and I’m really looking forward to reading that one too.
I can’t wait to hear what you think of Scarlet! I absolutely loved it–and the Robin Hood premise really drew me in..
Lisa @ Reading, Writing, and Random Musings says
I definitely want to read Made You Up! I adore the cover, and I’m totally intrigued with the plot!
Kelly says
Scarlet really bothered me – its attempt at an accent just turned out to feel like grammar mistakes. If it wasn’t for that, it would have been a brilliant book.
I really, really, really, really want to read an Ember in the Ashes!!! I *love* fantasy.
jen and Em says
I loved The Dream Thieves. I just added Ember in the Ashes to my TBR list. I hope you enjoy it. Great list.
Rachel says
Glad to see that we still like the same books since I’ve been gone for a while 🙂 I didn’t list most of these on my list, but OMG YES TO ALL THE CONTEMPORARIES. So many awesome authors have books out this year that I’m dyingggg to read.
tabithasbookblog says
You’re so right about Jessi Kirby!! She is one of the most underrated authors, and her books are INCREDIBLE. I’ve loved all of her books – especially Golden, and I cannot wait to dive into Things We Know By Heart. And the Devil we Know?! YES, PLEASE. I am so ready for it.
Great list!
Bonnie @ A Backwards Story says
I want to re-read SCARLET and then first read the other two books. I didn’t super love it on my first go-round, so I’m ready to try again! HOLD ME LIKE A BREATH would have been on my list if I hadn’t excluded Fairy Tale Fortnight titles! EMBER is, though!
Cassie (Happy Book Lovers) says
I TOTALLY agree about Jessi Kirby, and I love all her books!
I actually just started Joyride recently and I’m not super into it. I think I’m going to keep going for now, but I worry that if it doesn’t pick up I won’t want to finish it 🙁
Aleesha says
THE DREAM THIEVES. Maggie’s writing is so gorgeous, you will get sucked into the world and not want to leave! If you’re not already in love with the characters, you will be after this book!
Alexa S. says
I’m so thrilled you’re reading The Dream Thieves (and suggest you read Blue Lily Lily Blue right after), as I love Maggie’s series and her writing. And I’m super excited to read An Ember in the Ashes + The Devil You Know – hope we both love these books!
Chelsea says
So many good picks! Gah this is bad for my own TBR list! I say yes to all the contemporaries because man, I can’t get enough these days! I’m looking forward to finally starting the Lunar Chronicles and Scarlet! I’m a bit behind, eep!
Alisa @ Papercuttts says
The Survival Kit looks soooooo saaaaad :”””'( I can’t handle that!
Deyse says
I’m reading “Emmy & Oliver” right now and it’s so good! I’m about 30% in and there isn’t much happening, like it’s really just Emmy and Oliver re-knowing each other and still it’s really good, and touching and funny, I think you’ll like it too.
Alexia says
Eeeek, some of my favorite books of 2015 are on your list. I looooooved Made You Up. It’s wonderfully done. I’m kinda obsessed with it to be honest. The Devil You Know is so different from Trish’s other books, but so awesome. You’ll love it. Things We Know By Heart is such a special book to me, I absolutely loved it.
I did pre-order An Ember in the Ashes, and I do have Hold Me Like A Breath to read as well as Emmy & Oliver. Hoping to read them soonish. I am super excited about Joyride. I bought an ebook of The Raven Boys with my birthday money.
