Hi guys! Here’s what’s on my TBR list for May! I’m a mood reader so typically TBR lists aren’t something I do but I’m TRYING. I feel like I got a variety of books in the stack to suit various moods!
I’ve put it in two formats — video for those of you who like that and I’ll post a picture and a sentence for each of them for those who don’t like watching video type stuff. The video is about 6 minutes and I go into a little more detail so FUN TIMES FOR ALL.
And for those who don’t want to watch a video:
Made You Up by Francesca Zappa: A May release about a girl who has schizophrenia. Really intrigued by the prospect of an unreliable narrator as she can’t always tell real from not real.
Strange & Ever After by Susan Dennard: Last book of this trilogy and OMG I CANNOT EVEN. I have been putting it off because I don’t want it to end. I highly recommend this trilogy if you haven’t already read it.
A Straight Line to My Heart by Bill Condon: An Aussie book I picked up on a whim!
An Ember In Ashes by Sabaa Tahir: I’m excited to see what this fantasy is all about — the Rome-like setting is what sold it for me!
A Sense of the Infinite by Hilary T. Smith: I loved Hilary’s debut novel, Wild Awake, and this looks like a good one about friendship!
Hold Me Like A Breath by Tiffany Schmidt: CRIME FAMILY FAIRYTALE RETELLING! Princess & the Pea!
Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen: New Sarah Dessen! Nuff said!
The Survival Kit by Donna Freidas: This looks saaaaaad. I can’t wait haha. It’s about a girl who loses her mom but her mom leaves a “survival kit” for life for her.

I’m reading “An Ember In The Ashes” right now! Beware that it’s uncomfortable, cruel, and gory! But it’s still really good!!

I haven’t read any of these books but I’ve heard good things about a few of them. An Ember In Ashes is probably of the most interest to me. You really don’t see much fantasy that isn’t in a medieval setting, so it’s always refreshing to see an author buck that trend. I think the only other series I’ve read that’s set in a Roman-inspired setting is the Codex Alera by Jim Butcher, and I really enjoyed it so I’m really interested to see what you think of An Ember In Ashes.

I’m intrigued by Made You Up. I just finished Challenger Deep by Neal Shusterman, and it has a similar premise, and I loved it! Can’t wait to hear what you think of it!

Lots of good things about An Ember In The Ashes, excited to pick up that one. As well as The Survival Kit, I have seen this one around Goodreads a couple times and it looks so sweet and GAH! Happy Reading x

Read the first Susan Dennard book about 5 months ago after putting it off and LOVED IT. Someone hated the 3rd book so I’m scared. I have the 2nd book but not the 3rd yet.

Be prepared for Something Strange and Deadly. I read it earlier this year and I still feel the feels. It’s amazing and super emotional. I also got An Ember in the Ashes and can’t wait to start it!

Made You Up is already one of my favorite books of 2015. It’s beautifully written and completely captivating. I loved this book.
An Ember in the Ashes is on my list for May as well. My pre-order of it came in on release day and I’m super excited to dive in.
I also need to read Hold Me Like A Breath this month.

And YAY for Ember in the Ashes! I completely want to try that one and I’ve heard it’s stunning (the cover is gorgeous) heeh, I also want to read Made You Up. Unreliable narrators make for super interesting books, imo. I just read Alice in the Fly, which has an unreliable schizophrenic narrator so it just made me want Made You Up even more. x)

I’ve read An Ember in the Ashes, and I really enjoyed it! It did start off just the teensiest bit slow, but it definitely picks up. And now that I’m finished, I NEED the sequel to exist because I need more, more, more. I’ve also read Strange & Ever After, and it is beautiful. Susan is going to rip your heart out with where she takes her story – but it’s still so, so good.
Saint Anything is also on my TBR! It’s been AGES since I’ve read a Dessen novel, and I can’t wait to dive back into her writing.

Saint Anything was great! It was my first Sarah Dessen book and I really enjoyed her writing and the story. These books all sound so good, I’m definitely adding a couple to my TBR. I hope you enjoy them!
