Happy Sunday! It’s been a busy, busy weekend for us but fun! We had Will’s work holiday party on Friday and then a Christmas gathering yesterday. Today we are planning to mostly relax besides Trader Joe’s and maaaaybe braving the lines for Riley to meet (and probably be terrified by) Santa.
Hope you’ve had a great weekend!
- Super interesting article about how Facebook affects your mental health depending on how you use it! Whatcha think?
- Ooh 9 winter books that AREN’T about Christmas! A good one if you are wanting to read something winter-y but not necessarily Christmas related!
- I mean, maybe if I get this Hogwarts inspired workout gear I’ll take my goal of finally working out postpartum seriously!!
- I recently (in my huge apartment purge I’ve talked about a couple times) I got rid of a bunch of old purses that I hadn’t used in years or that were super worn or that had rips even. I realized I have only one black purse now after that purge and it’s on the small side. I’m on the hunt for a good one — definitely trying to find something relatively affordable but sturdy/well made (that can obviously hold a book or a kindle haha). So far on my list of potential purses: this Madewell satchel, this Madewell tote, this Michael Kors bag, and this Rebecca Minkoff bag.
- I cannot help being obsessed with subscription boxes and I am SUPER bumming that I found out about Little Poppy Co AFTER I made Riley’s Christmas wishlist that our families asked for! LOVE!!
- I really enjoying thinking about whether or not my hometown shaped my personality after reading this!
- Oh boy I just added a bunch of books from this for consideration in my New Year plan!!
- As part of my Make Winter Suck Less plan I talked about upping my cozy game and, again in our apartment purge, I donated some blankets that we don’t really use and I want to just get one really cozy one and then we are pretty good on blankets! We were recently at West Elm in the mall and I saw one I really liked that was so cozy and I’m pretty sure it’s this one and it’s on sale.
- I like the idea of this gratitude app although I think I like this Year of Gratitude better (for me at least) that I shared in this post.
- I always think more about taking trips when the weather is nice but I am totally digging this list of winter vacations!
- Currently trying to figure out if we can squeeze in a quick day trip to NYC after reading this!
- This week on the blog: If We Were Having Coffee & 42 Books That Will Become Movies/Shows In 2018,
How was your weekend?? What did you do?? Anything festive??

Haha those bows are so cute. I have a subscription every quarter of the year for a package of about 3-4 books for Merijn. 🙂
Merijn is teething, we had problems with our heating and I am so tired. I think that gives a good idea of our weekend. I hope yours is going a lot better. <3

What book subscription do you do?? I have a couple I’m interested in for Riley! I like the idea of quarterly rather than monthly!
Ooh poor mama!! (and poor Merijn…teething must be traumatic honestly). Ours was going well but last night was brutal..Riley has a bit of a cold and was SO SO stuffy last night and couldn’t sleep…so we barely slept. THankfully Will is a saint and brought her out to the living room so I could sleep in. Hope you get some rest today!!

I made it down to Philly to visit my mom. I live next to NYC and try to go atleast once a month. We watched The Devil Wears Prada and had some much needed mommy, daughter, and granddaughter time! I also picked up Eleanor Oliphant Is Just Fine to read again. It’s a great book so far but I have been in a slow reading slump. Finished the last of Christmas shopping!

It was actually a pretty good weekend for me! Josh had the weekend off so it was nice to actually not be solo parenting all weekend. We did a lot too – went out Friday night to the brewery, set up the tree a little bit on Saturday, saw Star Wars and went shopping and met Santa on Sunday. Not gonna lie, I am looking forward to a laid back staycation next week though. It’s nice being busy but idk about you but I miss those days of hanging in the house with just books for plans.
I hope you end up going on your NYC daytrip!

I have the Madewell transport tote and I love it!! My only complaint is that the top is open so when it rains, the contents of my purse tend to get a bit wet. BUT I love how many books I can hold in it!
