Book Talk: Boomerang by Noelle August

I was really excited about Boomerang because half of the writing team that is Noelle August is Veronica Rossi — the author of one of my favorite series. I knew that if anyone could do the New Adult thang right it would be her. AND RIGHT SHE DID. Or WRITE SHE DID? Both I suppose.

1. This is the kind of New Adult romance that is for me: I want all sorts of genres but it’s simply lacking right now. And the stuff that is there is contemporary and romance….but it’s not for me mostly. I’ve tried but it’s too angsty and all has too many tropes that I don’t like at ALL. Boomerang was sooooo refreshing in that way. It was a contemporary romance set between twenty-somethings who are doing things that people entering adulthood do — getting internships/jobs, trying to figure out what they want to do with the rest of their life and looking for LOVE (or hooking up haha). There’s drama but not the kind that turned me off to New Adult books. SO BRAVO BOOMERANG. If more contemporary New Adult was like you, I’d be all over it!

2. Boomerang was so FUN: I just had so much fun while reading this book! The romance is fun — their banter is adorable and I loved how hard they tried to fight their attraction and be grownups at work (at a dating service!) about it when their company policy says they can’t be together. The competition between them to land the coveted job was so cute — they wanted to destroy each other to do what was best for them (getting the job) but they also wanted what they heart wanted. I also had fun with the hilarity of the dates they had to go on FOR Boomerang purposes — the dates themselves but also the jealousy it brought out in each of them.  Just all around Boomerang was a FUN romance to read and it makes a really great beach read!

3. MMKAY SEXYTIMES: I’m just saying there are sexytimes. That cover might  make it look all sweet and innocent but, while it IS sweet, prepare the fans because it sure got steamy sometimes.  It’s not the whole book but there are definitely some passionate sexytimes in this book. JUST SO YOU KNOW. I’m not going to lie I blushed a few times. Also, because they can’t be together because of work the sexual tension is intense! And knowing that Veronica Rossi was half of the sexytime writing duo makes me want her to give us some sort of sexytime UTNS spinoff!! AMIRITE?

Re-readability: Probably not but that’s not an indication of how I enjoyed it! I can’t WAIT for the next book in the trilogy featuring 2 minor characters from Boomerang!

Would I buy a copy for my collection? I have one! The next home it’s going to is my sister who will LOVE THIS ONE. I know she will.

readers who have thus far not enjoyed what the majority of the New Adult scene has looked like, contemporary romance fans, readers who like sexytimes, readers who enjoy “forbidden” romances

Boomerang was that kind of fun, sexy book I needed this summer where I loved the characters a lot and the romantic tension made me fly through the pages. I’m going to blame the fact my temperature was rising on the summer weather here in Pennsylvania rather than the sexytimes and flirtatious banter…no seriously it was HAWT. Boomerang is a welcome addition to the New Adult scene that, on a personal level, hasn’t really impressed me yet. Cannot to learn more about Adam and Alison in the second book!!
