New To the Queue is going to be a sporadic thing around here wherein I tell you some of the books, movies, tv shows and bands I’ve recently added to my never ending queue of things to read/watch/listen to. For past posts, go here!

Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen (Amazon // Goodreads)
Publication Date – April 1st, 2014
Why I Added It To My To-Be-Read list: I asked Twitter the other day what their favorite 2014 debut has been this year and this one popped up a bunch. Confession: I had never even heard of it before.
What It’s About: The main character is kidnapped and sold to trolls who have bound to their city by a curse from a witch because they think she is the one they have been looking for to break the curse. She learns about them and bides her time as she works out a plan to escape…until she falls in love with the prince she was bound to, realizes that maybe this curse can be lifted and finds herself caught in the political games of a secret rebellion.
The Boy In the Black Suit by Jason Reynolds (Amazon // Goodreads)
Publication Date- January 6, 2014
Why I Added It To My To-Be-Read list: I feel awful but I’ve had his debut novel sitting here forever and haven’t picked it up even though I’ve heard great things. I got to hear him speak at an even Simon & Schuster put on when his book was upcoming and I really liked listening to him talk and the stories he shared. So when this showed up in the mail this week I was like YEP DOING IT.
What It’s About: Matt’s been through a lot — his mom passed away, his dad can’t stop drinking and he ends up getting a job at a funeral home since his dad isn’t really paying the bills. It’s there he meets Lovey — a girl who has been through a lot more and teaches him a thing or two about how to keep going.
Soltaire by Alice Oseman (Amazon // Goodreads)
Release Date: March 30, 2015
Why I Added It To My To-Be-Read list: It came in the mail and the press release said it was The Perks of Being A Wallflower meets Saving Francesca and I’m sorry but I’m always a sucker when you talk about my fave authors or books.
What It’s About: I honestly don’t really know because the summary is so vague!
The Good Girl by Mary Kubica (Amazon // Goodreads)
Release Date: June 2014
Why I Added It To My To-Be-Read list: I saw it on the Goodreads Choice Awards and was curious!
What It’s About: The main character, after waiting on her date who never showed up at the bar, goes home with a guy she meets there. The guy follows her home as he was actually hired to kidnap her and extort money from her wealthy family. He deviates from the plan when he takes her to a rural cabin and evades the police and the people who hired him.
Why I Added It To My Netflix Queue: EVERYBODY ON MY TWITTER FEED SEEMS TO BE TALKING ABOUT IT IN ALL CAPS AND UNFINISHED SENTENCES BECAUSE THEY ARE OVERCOME WITH FEELINGS.
What It Is About: “A century after Earth was devastated by a nuclear apocalypse, 100 space station residents are sent to the planet to determine whether it’s habitable.”
Why I Added It To My Netflix Queue: It just looked like a me kind of movie!
What It Is About: “On the way to meet a publisher, aspiring novelist Sam encounters Rasheen alone on the subway. While struggling to decide whether to send the young boy back to foster care, Sam looks after Rasheen and learns a few important life lessons.”
Why I Added It To My Netflix Queue: Netflix suggested it to me and I’ve heard people say good things about it!
What It Is About: “When Sarah witnesses the suicide of a woman who looks just like her, she assumes the deceased’s identity, her boyfriend and her bank account. Soon, she finds herself caught in the middle of a deadly conspiracy.”
Susie Suh — The Bakman Tapes
Why I Added It To My Musical Rotation: I randomly came across her new single and love her voice and started really listening to this older album.
Wolf Gang – Alveron
Why I Added It To My Musical Rotation: I’ve liked their previous stuff and really was looking forward to their new album after seeing them in concert this summer! Songs you should check out first: Lay Your Love Down, Black River, Back To Life, Last Bayou (Also..just saying check out their previous stuff esp The King & All His Men and Lion in Cages)
Copeland – Ixora
*This album was released on Spotify but it says November 24 on Amazon.*
Why I Added It To My Musical Rotation: Copeland was one of my favorite bands in college and I still really enjoy them so I definitely added their new album to my “to be listened to” queue. Really digging it though I don’t think it has favorite status in my heart.
If you want to catch what I’m listening to…follow me on Spotify! Let me know who you are so I can follow back and check out youuur music!
YOUR TURN! Tell me one book you added to your TBR list recently! Tell me a movie/tv show you added to your must watch list! Tell me a new band/singer you just added to your musical rotation! Also, have you read/watched/listened to anything on my recently added list? Or did I make you add something to YOUR queue? Tell me, tell me!

Let me first off just say… THE 100!!! I watch it and omg. I hope you end up shipping Bellarke.
The book that is MOST important that I’ve recently added to my TBR is “Heir of Fire” by: Sarah J Maas! I don’t have the money to buy it right now :/
Another book I added is “The Wrath and the Dawn” by: Renee Abdieh.
Tv show I added to my must watch list? Agent Carter! It’s an 8 episode mini-series coming on during the Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. break in January!
Hmm, music… I’ve really been liking Adam Cappa’s music lately! AND TSWIFT’S NEW ALBUM!! Sooo good!
Oh, and this is going to be my soundtrack (minus a few songs on it that I don’t like) once Thanksgiving is over 🙂 8tracks.com/synecdoches/a-mix-for-christmas-vol-i

Ugh, sorry for the bit of your stuff in the beginning haha. I always put it there so I don’t have to scroll back up and I forgot to erase all of it before submitting my comment -__-
Jamie says
EEEE I hope you get HoF soon!! And also, I need to check out Agent Carter! And totally checking out The Wrath and the Dawn..hadn’t heard of it! Thanks!

Netflix recommends Orphan Black to me too. I think it’s something I’d really like – I’ll have to fit it in when all my Shonda shows go on hiatus! Also, I want to read The Good Girl.
A new band I recently discovered is VAULTS – check them out and tell me if you like! Listen to ‘Premonitions’ on Spotify.
Jamie says
We should listen to Netflix!!! And I’m with you…I’m waiting until hiatus. I have too many shows going on right now haha.
DEFINITELY checking out Vaults! Will tweet you once I do!!
Jen-Jenuine Cupcakes (@cupcakegirly) says
The Good Girl is REALLY GOOD! Don’t peek at the end though because you’ll ruin the whole book for yourself. And I’ve watched Twitter explode over The 100 as well, and the book was one I thoroughly enjoyed, but I couldn’t even stomach the pilot episode. 🙁 I hope you have better luck with it!!

Orphan Black is so good. The main actress is so amazing at playing clones that when I saw a cast picture, I briefly thought to myself, “where are all the other actresses?” It’s one of my favorites. I cannot wait for season three this Spring. Firefly and Orphan Black made me realize that I may actually be a bit of a sci-fi geek.
I just finished Jojo Meyes’ Me Before You. It slayed me. I uglied cried but it was so good. I highly recommend it. Now I need to chase it with something light and Airy.
Sarah @ Sarah's Book Shelves says
I listened to The Good Girl on audio and liked it, but think I would have liked it a lot more had I read it.
Tiffany (AboutToRead) says
Never heard of Stolen Songbird either, but it does sound interesting.
Stormy says
Ixora, yes. I somehow missed it was on Spotify now! I pre-ordered on iTunes but. . . *scurries off to listen*.
I’ve been super intrigued by Solitaire. I’ll be looking forward to seeing what you think of it! (Even if the description is super vague.)
I’ve watched the first few episodes of Orphan Black and REALLY enjoyed them(well, not so much the first one honestly, but they picked up after that). I’d like to get back to it but I have limited ways of watching since I don’t have cable at all. I mainly check out DVDs at the library for my TV-show watching.
I think the last show I added to my to-watch list is Friday Night Lights, since EVERYONE seems to have watched it. I’m holding off until next month though, because I’m doing NaNoWriMo, so I’m not watching much TV lately. The latest band I’ve added to my music is Walk the Moon. I haven’t added to my TBR in a bit, but Goodreads is telling me the latest book I’ve added was The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Allen Addison on the recommendation of a friend.
Kristie says
I love that Stolen Songbird is a Canadian book! I have yet to read it due to a never ending TBR pile.
I LOVE The 100, my boyfriend and I watch together. I’m slightly hesitant to read the book its based off of now, but I did peak interest in the book before I knew it was going to be on TV.
As for Orphan Black, I’ve heard so much about it and do want to watch it myself. To the netflix!!!

Most recently added to my queue is Pioneer Girl: the annotated autobiography of Laura Ingalls Wilder. I am obsessed with the Little House books and have been since I was a kid. This book is basically the nonfiction story of her life and I’ve heard good reviews so far.
Trina says
I’m really intrigued about why everyone suddenly loves The 100. I watched most of the first season and ended up just forgetting about it because I had no interest in finding out what happened next. What the heck did I miss?? If you get into it, let me know where I need to pick up!
Ri @ HiveretCafe says
SUCCUMB TO THE GREATNESS THAT IS ORPHAN BLACK. Also TMas is so incredible! I read The Good Girl and it was a 4 star book for me. 🙂 I really also want to read The Stolen Songbird too because I’ve only heard great things about it. 😀
Emily N says
I am literally only commenting because OMG ORPHAN BLACK! Seriously, super addicting show. I wasn’t sure about after episode 1, but then it was like I was completely and totally sucked in. My husband and I marathoned it so fast, staying up wayyyy too late to try and catch up and see what will happen next. And now we wait, with anxious anticipation, for more….But you should definitely watch it. It’s fantastic. The main actress is amazing and should win all of the awards ever!

so, unrelated to this post: YAY JAMIE U GOT INTO THE EPIC READS SEMI FINALS!!!
i nominated you in the first round and i am gonna vote for you now.
simply because you are the first bookish source i check whenever i go online and your blog is the best..(Which ruins all other bookblogs, frankly, cause in my opinion they do not measure up to yours. you are so genuine, i love it!) anyway, thanks for being you and being so awesome at all this! God bless you!
Jamie says
EEEEE I SAW. Thank you so much for nominating me!! YOU ARE THE SWEETEST AND I AM KIND OF TEARING UP RIGHT NOW. THANK YOU for your support…glad to be on this book nerd journey with you!! <3
Rachel says
Wait……does this mean Orphan Black is FINALLY on Instant Streaming??? YESSSSSSSSS. 😀 I am now totally going to watch!!!!
Lauren @ Bookmark Lit says
I am sooo with you on The 100! Everyone is suddenly going crazy for it. I guess many people weren’t huge fans of the book but apparently the TV show diverges from it quite a bit (no surprise there). I also recently added Orphan Black to my list too. I miss the days I would lay in bed and binge Netflix.. I’m so bad at watching shows these days 🙁
Rosie // Rosie Reads says
I’ve heard such good things about Orphan Black, too… need to start watching it 🙂
Deyse says
ALL THE YESS FOR THE 100 AND ORPHAN BLACK!!!! SUCH GOOD TV SHOWS (and really addictive be warmed!)
Lauren @ Life Between Reads says
Stolen Songbird is soooo good! It’s completely different than anything I’ve read. Also, The 100 isn’t bad! It’s your typical CW show…pretty predictable and a little over the top, but I definitely binge watched the first season 🙂
Mel@thedailyprophecy says
Oh yes, I was surprised by Stolen Songbird! I loved it and she changed the way I look at trolls. I’m also watching The 100 after the Twitter explosion and I really like it so far 😀
Emily says
Stolen Songbird was SO GOOD. The great thing is that, even though the original publisher folded, the rest of the series is still going to be released.
Christina R. says
LOVE the books you’re reading next! Lots of different concepts but I hear they’re all awesome!
MUST begin paying more attention to diversity in books – there are so many wonderful authors focusing on it, and it’s great when we get new titles from all you wonderful bloggers 🙂
LOVELY post 🙂
Emma @ Miss Print says
Have you seen Sarah Rees Brennan’s parody recaps of The 100? I don’t even really like the show but I adore the recaps.
Andreah says
I also thought this book seemed interesting and added it to my to read list!
Jami Zehr says
I watched the first four episodes of Orphan Black. I really liked it and I thought the actress did a good job of playing different people. It reminded me of a cross between Dark Angel and Ringer (with Sarah Michelle Gellar). I really should add it to the top of my Netflix queue.
JoLee says
I’ve been eying Stolen Songbird. Let us know how it is.

Great list. I really want to read Stolen Songbird! 🙂

I was gifted a copy of Exquisite Captive by Heather Demetrios. I desperately wanted to read it when it was released but of course, as soon as I got it, I’m in a reading funk! I’m afraid to start b/c I don’t want to not like it b/c I’m in a mood right now So it’s sitting in my kindle waiting.
Bagginsindeed says
Orphan Black is beyond amazing.
Christa @ More Than Just Me says
Oh my gosh Stolen Songbird is so good! I love that it’s getting the attention it deserves. I was a little unsure when I first started reading it because trolls…but then I couldn’t put it down. I actually finished it in one sitting.
Also Orphan Black is addictive. Be prepared!
bn100 says
the first book sounds interesting
Rachel @ A Perfection Called Books says
Yessss, Jamie!! Great life choices I see!! Orphan Black is so good and addictive. The actress Tatiana Maslany (main character) is an AMAZING actress. I’ve lost track of the number of people she portrays. And I forget it’s the same person sometimes!! There’s action and drama and romance and mystery and revenge and deception. Oh it’s so good. The 100 is pretty great too. There’s this one ship I can’t get over; they basically force me to continue watching. Happy reading!!
Savannah says
I want to read Stolen Songbird as well as The 100. I’ve been watching the tv show and really like it.
Ashley @The Quiet Concert says
Sooo Orphan Black, I have a love hate this the series. SOme of it is SOOO absurd but I am still soo entertained. I am really interested to hear what you think! I have heard The 100 is worth checking out but my tv list is already so long 🙂
Estelle says
Always pumped about Jason Reynolds & glad you are interested in The Good Girl. I really liked it & have an extra copy I’ll be giving away on Twitter this month. 😉 You should look out for it. xoxo
Alexa S. says
I know everyone has been talking about The 100 so I’m admittedly curious about it! We’ll have to see if I ever end up following through on watching it, since I’m actually not much of a television show watcher 😉 Also, I love seeing your new music in these posts! I always discover artists that I want to keep listening to. Can’t wait to check these guys out!
